Wootton Choir wows community with debut performance

October 2009Posted by Hazel Mon, October 19, 2009 12:20:06

On Saturday 10th October I went to see the first ever performance of the Wootton Village Choir, led by Friends in Business member Pam Mudge-Wood of TerraTambre.

It was a fantastic event. The choir performed a variety of songs, mostly from the 20th century, including African and Jewish numbers, through to the Hippopotamus song with audience participation. The choir excelled themselves and were shown great appreciation by members of the community. The success of the performance was a testament to their hard work and the talents of Pam as musical director.

The concert was part of activities happening throughout the day in Wootton Village Hall including an arts and crafts exhibition, local makers showing their wares and talents (including acrylic pen turning and needlepoint) and delicious hot food and cakes on sale. Angie Twydall, another FIB member, from YogaNature and also a Wootton resident, sang in the choir and had a stall showcasing her lovely natural products made from the honey and beeswax from Wootton Park.

I thoroughly enjoyed stepping into the world of Wootton and experiencing, even as an outsider, how music and the arts and crafts can aid in creating a wonderful sense of community.

New re-vamped website

September 2009Posted by Angie Twydall Tue, September 08, 2009 14:52:55
Finally, Rod and I have agreed the new layout of our website here at YogaNature.

Have a look, we think Jo from Jo Can Do has done a great job. The home page really shows what we are about - much more than just yoga!

We have added a natural products section (thanks to the bees hard work) and are now taking orders for handcreams, lip balms and bees wax polish. All hand made here in Wootton. We had the National Bee Inspector here yesterday..bit scary! but for no need all 6 hives had a clear bill of health and "very tidy bee-keeping" amazing how easy it is when you love doing something...shame housework doesn't fall into the same category!

There is also now a shop where you can buy yoga mats, recommended CD's for relaxation, weleda products and Tisserand oils.....thanks again Jo for all your hard work.

Green Web Hosting

August 2009Posted by jocando Wed, August 12, 2009 17:30:39

Many of us try to do our bit to help the environment. But what else can you do to be green?

You can now have green web hosting with Jo Can Do. The servers are all powered and cooled by wind energy.

And with various packages available, it could also be cheaper than your current hosting.

Q HypnoBirthing Website Launch

August 2009Posted by jocando Sat, August 01, 2009 16:17:51
I've been working on a website for Lisa for her HypnoBirthing work. Here it is:

HypnoBirthing® is a childbirth education programme which teaches simple self hypnosis, relaxation and breathing techniques. You can read all about it on the QHypnoBirthing website.

If you've got any pregnant friends, tell them to take a look. (I didn't know there was a government grant of £191 for pregnant Mums, for example!) And to contact Lisa (lisa@qhypnotherapy.co.uk) if they're interested in attending the HypnoBirthing classes.

HypnoBirthing Talk

June 2009Posted by Lisa Fri, June 19, 2009 20:27:37

I attended Angie's pregnancy yoga class on Wednesday night to give a talk on the HypnoBirthing classes I am running in Whitstable starting on 8th July 2009. Everyone was very welcoming and we had a good discussion about the concept of HypnoBirthing and how it can enable mothers to have a calm, serene birth in the way nature intended.

It was very hot so I tried to keep it short - something that I find hard to do generally but in particular about HypnoBirthing as I am so passionate about the chance to give women a positive birth experience!

I did a visualisation to show the power of the mind over your physical reactions which surprised a few people. All in all it was great to meet such a lovely group of Mums and thanks to Angie for the opportunity.

Yoga & Relaxation Workshop

May 2009Posted by Angie Twydall Thu, May 21, 2009 10:15:05
The latest Yoga Day was held at the beautiful venue of Wootton Village Hall - a community inspired timber building with a state of the art kitchen. It certainly has the wow factor!

Angie & Rod led the day incorporating breathing techniques Rod had recently experienced from India. The posture work was gentle yet deeply stretching, with the emphasis on being with the breath.

A fantastic wholefood lunch was prepared and served by Beth (thanks!) and new friends were made. Many thanks to all the participants who came on trust, many via the website www.yoganature.co.uk. Here's to the next event.
